The E-LANE project proposes the integration of solid applications already used in the context of elearning as an open software elearning platform, using the .LRN educational platform which is based on OpenACS, the design of an innovative teaching methodology oriented towards this platform, and the integration of course content from some of the most prestigious educational institutions in Europe and Latin America with the objective of providing the society with low cost educational material.
The aim is to maximize the impact of this project both at the level of academic and non academic training and to promote a solid environment for long life learning in the future information society.

The main developments already finished so far are: Random Photo Portlet, E-LANE customization, Evaluation package (GradeBook), User Tracking package, Knoppix CD, inclussion of the IMS QTI standard for the assessment package, Mail-handler package, Modifications for the LORs package, Modifications for the forum package
Currently E-LANE project is working on additional developments like the inclussion of the IMS Learning Desing standard, web services, implementation of the possibility of moving objects between courses, converter from word to DocBook, new functionalities for LORs, new editor assessment interface, etc.
A test server is available. Through this one you can test wichever .LRN functionality and if there is some bug you can present us a report for trying to solve it and including a new test.
Releases of the E-LANE Project distribution are provided, which are based in the last stable release of the .LRN platform. The E-LANE distribution is a superset of .LRN: it contains ".LRN-certified" components according to the tests. You can download the last E-LANE release
COURSE CONTENT
A concrete set of courses have been produced. The courses provided by the project are divided in two categories: basic skills and life long learning. Courses to convey basic computer skills to a large portion of society have been develeped according to the ECDL initiative. You can download the E-LANE ECDL courses. Other additional courses appart from ECDL have also been developed or are in current developing process. You can download these additional courses.
METHODOLOGY
All the courses are packaged in SCORM, using E-LANE generation of contents model according to the E-LANE methodology and E-LANE pedagogical model.
SCORM provides LMS (Learning Management System) compatibility. An SCORM package can be visualized through any LMS. In E-LANE the courses will be loaded in .LRN through the LORs package. You can view the courses through this local .LRN platform.
DEMONSTRATORS
To evaluate the application of the proposed elearning system, different teaching courses will be given through the .LRN platform in diverse scenarios selected in Chile, Colombia, Guatemala and Mexico.
The demonstrators are going to use the E-LANE Demonstatrors Guide. You can consult the different E-LANE demonstrator concrete experiences: Guatemala, Chile, Mexico, Colombia
